Fasting and Abstinence (Pennace)
- Abstinence: Catholics aged 14 and older abstain from meat (land animals) on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent.
- Fasting: Catholics aged 18-59 are required to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, allowing one full meal and two smaller meals that do not equal a full meal.
- Giving up Luxuries: Many choose to give up a specific habits or comforts (e.g., socia media, sweets, coffee) to practice self discilpine and focus on God.
Prayer (Spiritual Growth)
- Stations of the Cross: Traditionally prayed on Friday evenings
- Increased Scripture Study: Reading daily Gospels or engaging in refelction books.
- Sacramental Life: Increased attendance at daily Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession).
- Devotional Prayer: Daily Rosary, quiet meditation, or using apps like Hallow.


St. Joseph Catholic Church's adult confirmation class will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 19. 

St. Joseph Council of Catholic Women will award one $1,000 scholarship to an institution of higher learning to a female high school graduating senior who is a member of:
St. Joseph Knights of Columbus #9456 will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships in 2026 to an institution of higher learning of the recipient’s choice. To qualify, please review the applicant guidelines listed below: Two scholarships will be offered this year, one based strictly on academic performance and community participation, and the second based on academic performance, community participation, and financial need.

The Chalice for Vocations ministry was developed to promote fervent and devotional prayer for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. These specific intentions are raised as the chalice travels within the parish community.
