Deacon Peter Massaro entered into the Arms of God on Sunday afternoon, October 31st. Vespers of the Feast of All Saints. Deacon Peter served with graciousness, commitment in the various ministries at St. Joseph's, St. Therese in Vineland and Sacred Heart in Avondale. May Deacon Peter share in the Promise of Our Lord.
 
Funeral Mass will be on November 12th (Friday) at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's. It will be livestreamed on the church Facebook page.

Deacon Peter's Life Story

Deacon Peter Antony Massaro, 81, passed away Oct. 31, 2021. A lifetime Puebloan, he was born June 22, 1940 to Angelo L. and Alice M. (Okicich) Massaro who precede him in death along with uncle, Marvin Massaro; father-in-law, Cecil Hayden and brother-in-law, David Pratto. He was a 1957 graduate of Pueblo Central High School, and served 4 years in the U.S. Military. Deacon Peter received his Bachelors of Science Degree and Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from CU Boulder. He was ordained a Deacon through the Dioceses of Pueblo in 2007; serving as Deacon at St. Therese in Vineland, Sacred Heart of Avondale, and St. Joseph Parish. He had a love and passion for education, teaching in both academic and religious roles. He was fundamental in RCIA for over 20 years, Men of Joseph, and religious education at St. Therese of Vineland. Deacon Peter’s greatest love was his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his world. He often said, “If I would’ve known grandchildren were so much fun, I would’ve had them first. Deacon Peter leaves to cherish his memory; his beloved wife of 58 years, Patricia (Hayden) Massaro; children, Michael (Natalia) Massaro, Jill Massaro (Eddie Walter); Thomas Massaro; siblings, Marlene Pratto and Gary (Cathy) Massaro; mother-in-law, Leita Hayden; brother-in-law, Robert (Joyce) Hayden; grandchildren, Jeff (Nicole) Paglione, Daphinie Massaro, Rebekah Massaro, Caitlin Paglione, David Angelo Massaro, Anton Slesarenko, Eve Massaro, Daniel Massaro, and Brenden Walter; great-grandchildren, Sora Nakano, Tesla Gallegos, and baby Gianna Paglione; nieces and nephews, Felicia Pratto, Anita Pratto, Alec (Kayla) Pratto, Paul (Sharon) Pratto, Chris Hayden, Kelly (Terry) Baughn, Reanna (Bret) Davis, Adrian Massaro, Eric (Debby) Massaro, Marc Massaro; great- nieces and great nephews, Raina Pratto, Chamis Pratto, Gabriel Wood, Lucia Pratto Wood, Sophia Pratto Wood, Jackson Pratto, Brandon Pratto, Aiden Davis, Brooke Davis; numerous other relatives, friends, and parishioners that will miss him dearly. Funeral Mass 10 am Friday Nov. 12, 2021, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1145 S. Aspen Rd. Military Honors by Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. Online condolences at www.angeluspueblo.com.
